Everyone told me postpartum lasts about nine months, and then I'd feel like myself again. I'm way past that. So why am I still not okay? I'm exhausted, I'm resentful, and I don't recognise the woman I thought I was. Does this ever end?

Me, before I knew it had a name.

Sound familiar? You're not the only one.

Is this you?

You might be here
because...

You cried in the car before school pick up, then walked in smiling.

You used to be good at things. Now you can't remember the last time you felt good at anything.

You look in the mirror and see a mum. You're just not sure where the woman went.

You love your kids more than anything, and you still lie awake wondering what's wrong with you.

Everyone says "it gets easier." It hasn't. So you decided the problem must be you.

So you try harder. Better routines, earlier mornings, one more podcast on being calmer. And every time it doesn't work, you take it as more proof that you're failing.

A working session, not a webinar

What you'll
walk away with

You won't just listen. Short teaching, solo reflection, then small breakout rooms, so you're never put on the spot.

In this session

  • You get to stop blaming yourself. Put words to what you've been living. You'll finally have language for what you've been carrying alone, and once you can name it, you can be gentler with yourself. You'll also be able to explain it to the people you love, maybe for the first time.
  • You get to choose what to hold onto. See every part of your life that motherhood has quietly changed, laid out in front of you, all in one place. You'll finally see why it's felt like everything that made you you collapsed at once, why feeling this way makes complete sense, and which parts matter most, so you can lean into them on purpose.
  • You get to decide how to use your strength. Discover how your greatest strength became your struggle. The very thing that makes you brilliant has been wearing you down under pressure. When you see it clearly, it can start working for you again, not against you.
  • You keep your own unique map. Leave with your own one page workbook, filled with everything you uncover, in your own words. No two are ever the same, because no two mothers are. It won't fade the moment you close your laptop, and it's yours to come back to whenever you need the reminder.
A lit candle beside an open notebook with handwritten notes
And one sentence to take home
"This is not me failing. It is..."

You'll finish it yourself before we close. It might be the first kind thing you've said about yourself in a long time, and actually believed.

What nobody told you

It's not you.
It has a name.

What most mothers believe

"I just need to try harder."

More organised, more sleep, more patience. Everyone else seems to manage, so you must be the problem.

  • Blame yourself for something that has no name
  • Push harder, and sink further
  • Slowly lose your confidence, your patience, your sense of who you are
What's actually happening

Matrescence.

Named in 1973 by medical anthropologist Dana Raphael. The transformation of becoming a mother, structurally a lot like adolescence.

  • Your body, identity, relationships and place in the world all shift at once
  • We prepare teenagers for adolescence. Nobody prepares mothers for this
  • You were missing information, not effort

A caterpillar doesn't disappear when it becomes a butterfly. It's still her, with wings. You haven't lost who you were. You're becoming more of her.

Your facilitator

I've been
where you are.

Founder and facilitator

Audrey Isautier

For fourteen years I was a professional competitive dancer. I won world titles, and danced and taught in more than 47 countries. Strong, fast, in control. That was me.

Then I became a mother, and that woman disappeared so quietly I didn't notice she was gone. I was sure I was failing, at motherhood, at marriage, at being me.

Nobody told me it had a name. When I finally learned it, everything shifted. I built this workshop to give you in two hours what took me years to find.

"This is who I trusted myself to be, before any of this. I've lived my own identity loss, and my own reclamation."

What my dance students say

Before M.other, I spent years teaching dance. Here's how my students remember me as a teacher.

"Always caring and making people feel welcome… Your approach created a really safe and warm environment for everyone to join in."
Laura D.Former dance student
"She had a way of making you feel like you could do anything, even when you doubted yourself."
James K.Former dance student
"You appeared in a difficult stage of my life, learning to dance from you helped me in so many ways!"

The honest part

No surprises.
Here's what you're saying yes to.

Time to protect

Two hours each workshop, which means asking for help with the kids. This is your time. For those two hours, you are the priority.

Cameras on

A room where we can all see each other feels safer, for you and for every other woman in it. Messy hair, no makeup and a pile of washing behind you are all welcome.

Some of it will sting

You'll look at things you've been avoiding.

It won't fix everything

No workshop can undo years. It can change where you go from here.

No "yes, but..."

Five kids, solo parenting, no family nearby, a partner who works away. All real. But if you're waiting for them to change before you can feel like yourself again, you'll be waiting a long time. We start with what you can choose today. You.

But you'll leave seeing yourself more clearly, knowing what you actually need, and with one real step you can take straight away.

Your safety

A safe room to
open up

What you share stays private

Breakout rooms are never recorded. The main session is, but anything you share there is never shared anywhere, not even in the replay.

1 month replay

Only the teaching segments go into the replay, and you can rewatch them for a month.

Coaching, not therapy

If you're struggling with your mental health, please speak to your GP, or call PANDA on 1300 726 306.

My promise to you

I will never tell you how to raise your children.

There's no judgement here on the choices you make for your family. Whatever you've chosen, you're welcome in this room.

This is about you, the woman. When you know who you are and what you need, you can make the choices that are right for you, your kids and your family, whatever those choices are.

No filter. No judgement. No staying stuck. A private community for women in the middle of matrescence, where we talk about the parts that don't make it to the group chat. If you don't have a village, this is where you can start finding yours: women in the same place as you, wanting a better relationship with themselves in the middle of the chaos of motherhood. It's not a parenting group. It's for you, the woman. Join a workshop and you're in it for good.

The process

What happens
after you book

01

Check your inbox

You'll get your confirmation and your invite to the M.other Circle. A few days before each workshop, your Zoom link and workbook arrive, plus the free DISC test before Workshop 1.

02

Answer two private questions

Straight after you pay, you'll land on a short page with two quick questions: how you're going at the moment, and anything you'd like me to know before we meet. Only I see your answers. They help me look after you, and hold the room safely for everyone.

03

Do the DISC test

A free, 15 minute personality test. In Workshop 1 we use it to see how your natural strengths have turned into struggles under the pressure of motherhood. Then put the date in your calendar.

04

Make it your space

Before we start, find a room where you can speak freely, somewhere you could talk about your partner without them in earshot. Make yourself a cup of tea or coffee, warm water with lemon, or a cold glass of water. This is your time to finish a warm drink in peace.

After the series
  • Next year I'm opening an 8 week programme for women who want to go deeper. You'll hear about it first, with full details, dates and pricing, before it goes live to the public.
  • If it's right for you, everyone who attends gets a $97 credit towards it, valid for 7 days from the day it launches.

Questions

Before
you book

I have a baby under one. Is this for me?

If your baby is under one but you also have older children, yes. You've already lived a few years of this, and what we work on will help you hold it all, maybe now more than ever.

If this is your first baby and they're still under one, I'll be honest with you. Those early months are about getting through the day, and that's exactly as it should be. This work needs a little headspace. If it isn't there yet, there's no rush. Follow along on Instagram or the podcast, and come back when the next workshops open.

If you're struggling right now, please talk to your GP or call PANDA on 1300 726 306.

My kids are older. Is this still for me?

Yes. Matrescence doesn't follow a timeline. If you've read this far and felt seen, you belong in the room.

What if I can't make the date?

That's okay, you can still book. You'll get the replay of the teaching and your workbook, so you can do the work in your own time. You'll have a month to watch it, whenever life allows. The breakout rooms aren't recorded, to keep what other mums share private.

Do I have to share in front of everyone?

You'll be invited, never forced. Most sharing happens in small breakout rooms, which feels much easier, and those are never recorded. I do recommend it. So often it's while you're saying it out loud that you find your own answer. The replay only includes the teaching, so the personal stories shared during the live call stay private.

I don't have two hours.

Making two uninterrupted hours for yourself is the first step of the work. Asking your partner, your parents or a friend to take the kids is already you reclaiming yourself. Do it once, and the next time gets easier.

Can I just do Workshop 1?

Of course. Each workshop stands alone. The series is simply better value, in cost and in results, and it takes the decision off your plate for the next two.

I'm not in Perth. Can I join?

Yes! It's all on Zoom. Each workshop runs 8am to 10am Perth time. That's 11am to 1pm in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Hobart, 10:30am to 12:30pm in Adelaide, 10am to 12pm in Brisbane, 9:30am to 11:30am in Darwin, and 1pm to 3pm in Auckland. Somewhere else? Check the time where you are.
